The ministry to the Maasai people in Mwanza town started in the heart of Rev. Musuma J. Marwa since 2006 when doing his college practicals (Term-Out) in Mwanza town from Nassa Theological college. In this photo he is standing before the Maasai guards in Mwanza town teaching them how to read and write. As he volunteered to help these illiterate group of people in Tanzania his intention is to EVANGELIZE them for the Kingdom of God.
While in this ministry I faced some challenges to EVANGELIZE people with different culture and beliefs. I remember one time when I missed my students for a week because of being invited to share their meal (poriage). It was not my intention to ask excuse for not using their porriage, the case was how they prepare the porriage itself. For more information consult Rev. Musuma in this blog.
Many people do not know where the idea of starting a non-governmental organization comes from. In this year is when Rev. Marwa come up with this idea of starting an institution that will meet different groups in Tanzania which are in NEEDY. As you can see these mature people sitting outside on the ground but very eagerly to learn how to read and write. Not only that but also listening to the GOOD NEWS. How a thirsty heart?
Since 2006, this ministry is existing till today in Mwanza town. And the vision is not as was started, it has grown to the point of starting an organization and registered in the government officially to help such groups. I thank God that from this group we now have groups that are met by (HONSETA). HONSETA is the name of the organization which means Hope for Orphans and Needy Services in Tanzania. Since the organization is governed by a Pastor, and the responsibility of a Pastor is to lead people to eternity. The HONSETA is working under a church led by Rev. Musuma. As the ministry grows, Rev. James E.Shija is now involved in teaching Maasai.
